Another Essay Review
I'm reviewing a peer's essay draft again. Luckily this time I was in a group of two, so there's only one review to write today. This essay's subject is an experiment, where we chose something to test or do and documented doing it everyday for about three weeks as of last Friday. My chosen "experiment" was just to take a nap everyday since I'm always so bloody tired. My peer's essay is on cutting social media out of their life. They styled their essay in a series of daily entries, describing their life without Facebook, Snapchat and other social media platforms. It's a solid format, one that is plainly written and easy to follow. The grammar and general flow of the sentences could use some polish, however. Additionally, the essay lacks analysis of the experiment results, and most of the daily entries could use some exposition. The only thing resembling analysis and research is a single sentence on some person checking their email and website analytics, which came completely out of the blue and had no real context behind it. The guy in this sentence, Jason, is dropped out of nowhere, and the reader has no clue who he is. Nevertheless, the essay is descriptive of the writer's experience, easy to follow, and with some work and editing, can become a great piece of writing.
